London
'Crowded thoroughfares by day, a fog-wrapped labyrinth by night. I'll walk the streets, seeking secrets, until I can walk no more.'
'Search the City'

London is the capital of the United Kingdom. Not much is known about its history, except for a few discrete events taking place in the city. Examples include Eva Dewulf's dramatic wedding in 1725[1] and an occult play taking place in 1892.[2] Despite the lack of historical information, London is known for playing a central role in the modern day Secret Histories due to it being home to many occult inhabitants and places of business.

Organisations[]

Ecdysis

Ecdysis Club

One of London's most notable occult inhabitants is the Ligean Sulochana Amavasya.[3] She is the owner of the Ecdysis Club, a cabaret club that provides London with otherworldly performances and other occult delights.[4] At the club, Amavasya employs the aid of Mr Agdistis, who helps her with the performances and administrative tasks.[5][6]

Oriflamme's Auction House

Oriflamme's Auction House

Another of London's important places of business is Oriflamme’s Auction House, located in Mayfair and established in 1776, where various types of occult curious and rare texts are auctioned both to those in the Know and not.[7][8][9] It is not known in which of the Histories it was established, but it was definitely not the third.[9] Oriflamme's was one of the possible sponsors during the Locksmith's Dream live event.[10]

The Endeavour Club is another London based organisation that was also available as a sponsor during the Locksmith's Dream live event.[10][11] Located in Park Place,[11] it serves as the spiritual succesor of the Sovereigns of the Leashed Flame.

Before their fall, the Obliviates were known to feast in London, visiting public houses with names related to the gods-from-stone .[12][13][14] These public houses were; Saturn's Grapes[12], The Seven Stars[13] (which could be a reference to the Flint)[15], and The Old Wheel[14] (a reference to the Wheel).

The Suppression Bureau has a presence in London, with a station being located in Hobbs End.[16] This where DI Douglas Moore works.[16]

Other Notable Inhabitants[]

  • The Aspirant: The player character in Cultist Simulator.[17][18]
  • Fraser Strathcoyne: A collector of rare objects, and the fourth librarian of Hush House.[19][20]

Other Notable Places[]

  • Forgotten Mithraeum: An analog to our History’s London Mithraeum. The ancient temple still hides some secrets others have never discovered.[21][22]
  • Cater & Hero Limited: A factory that has been abandoned since an explosion that killed both of the owners. Cater would display odd trinkets in his office, which remain amidst the ruins.[23]
  • St Agnes Hospital: An old hospital infamous for the number of amputations performed, which now houses the lingering malice of a curse. Some may recognize St Agnes as another title for the Mother of Ants.[24]
  • Congregation of St Felix of Schüren: An unorthodox Calvinist offshoot church whose minister and inner circle in truth worship the gods of the Sisterhood of the Knot. This St Felix is likely a variant of Felix of Burgundy, the first Bishop of the East Angles.[25][26]
  • The Forsaken Reach: A number of warehouses rest along the grey banks of the Capital’s river, some of which contain unusual cargo.[27]
  • Morland’s Shop: A dimly lit bookstore which deals in rare and sometimes dangerous texts. Over the course of Cultist Simulator, the owner Miss Morland will eventually close the shop, having exhausted most of her stock and noting the Suppression Bureau’s increased interest in her business.[28][29]
  • The Montmerenzi-McDonald Gallery: A small art collection open to the public on the condition that no piece be photographed or exposed to sunlight. It is notable for containing a painting of the Elegiast’s gentlest Name, Miss Naenia, who can guide the player on the Remembrance Ascension of the Ghoul Legacy.[30]

Other Notes[]

  • The name Oriflamme comes from a pointed, red-blood French battle standard.[31]
