Sulochana Amavasya is an alukite and a member of the Ligeia Club. She owns the Ecdysis Club, in London. She is described as laconic, energetic, bright-eyed and unblinking. She has hooked teeth, like a serpent. She plays a cedar flute, for one of the dances. She is stated to be "constant in her friendship", sometimes withholding her poisons, and while she used to dislike cats, she ceased to do so once she became what she is now. This could refer to her being an alukite, or a Ligeian.[1][2][3]

Sulochana is the daughter of one of the Great Hooded Princes, and holds the Key of Night (which opens the Wrong Door[4]) which they formerly owned. Her father specifically came from the Fifth History, but Sulochana was born in this one, where she "brews her venoms".[3]

Her associated animal is the Hydra. This is likely due to her father having come from the Fifth History, as the Secret Histories are elsewhere in Enigma called "Hydrae" and described with the phrase "History is the scar on the world's neck", and possibly also due to her and Princes' connection to the Seven-Coils through the Mother of Ants.[5] Her sacrificial animal is unknown, and likely unnecessary for her Key.

She has some form of arrangement with Mr Agdistis, who seems to help run the club, works with the dancers, and sometimes plays the drums. She has a telephone number, surprisingly, and smokes imported clove cigarettes. She keeps her keys, jewels and trophies in the top room of the Club.[6][7][8][9]

Other Notes[]

  • Sulochana is mentioned in the Indian epic Ramayana, as the daughter of the king of the serpents, Sheshanaga. Her name means "she whose eyes are beautiful" in Sanskrit. Her last name is a reference to the lunar phase of the new moon, also in Sanskrit.[10]
  • She followed the Old Form of the dance, but never reached higher than the fifth mark of it. She took a different route to the Mansus in the end.[2]
  • In Dancer Legacy, she comments upon a several places:
    • When she went to the Unnumbered Stones, she used to stay at a small inn there, which she burnt down for unknown reasons.[11]
    • She claims there is nothing for "[her] kind or yours" at the Tombs of the Shadowless Kings, referring to the Dancer.[12]
    • When the Dancer is headed to Miah, she asks them to bring back some dates for her, and almost asks them to tell the Vagabond to give her regards to Klêidouchos, before thinking better of it.[13]
    • When the Dancer heads for Port Noon, she tells them "If any of them [referring to the Long] ask after me, tell them I'll come for their children next".[14]
  • Sulochana is the one to introduce the Grail and Forge Apostles to her relevant Ligeian sisters, but refuses to introduce the Lantern Apostle to Klêidouchos.[15]
  • She knows of Duffoure, the Exile’s Foe, because he used to come to the Ecdysis Club before the Great War.[16]
  • Her epithet "light-drinker" comes from the Mr Eaten twitter bot (@Mr_Eaten), which responded to the names of each Ligeian with an epithet. Five were new epithets, while two (Echidna -> Monster-mother, and Morgen -> Sea-born) matched existing epithets and can be taken as confirmation that these epithets are canon to Cultist Simulator (since the bot is dubiously canon for Fallen London and had few ties to Cultist Simulator previously).[17]
