'Who does not turn aside; who watches; who is not observed to act.' [2]

The Witness is a mysterious Hour who is not directly mentioned anywhere in Cultist Simulator, but has been acknowledged outside of the game several times. A developer doc for Book of Hours shows that they enjoy strange combinations and arrangements of Lore and for secrets to be exposed.[3] While most Hours are said to have no more than three aspects, the Witness and Chandler claim otherwise.[4]

Relationships[]

  • The Chandler: These two Hours are often mentioned alongside one another, and seem to have a number of similarities.[5]

Other Notes[]

  • Names of the Chandler and the Witness claim that other worlds with other Manses exist.[5]
  • The image on the Witness' WF Catalogue page[6] is a cropped shot from the silent surrealist short film Un Chien Andalou, which was co-directed by Salvador Dali.[7]

Theories and Questions[]

  • It was widely believed that the “one who watches and does not act” mentioned in the Major Lantern ending is the Witness.[8] This was confirmed by the reveal of the Witness' enactments in its WF Catalogue entry.[2]
